NONGSTOIN: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP), Langpih Unit, has sought Health Minister, AL Hek, intervention on the construction of the health sub-centre at Langpih.
President of the FKJGP Langpih Unit, Serbilin Lyngdoh, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said that a reminder letter had been submitted for setting up a health sub-centre at Langpih.
According to Serbilin, despite the government approving the proposal to construct the health sub-centre at Langpih, no action has been taken yet.
Serbilin also said that with Langpih being a remote part of the state, the nearest health care centre is around 20 kilometres away, adding that it becomes difficult for people to reach there, especially in view of the deplorable road condition.
The FKJGP hoped that with the intervention of the Health minister, the process will be facilitated.
The Union has also urged the Health department to take up the matter seriously.
