Ri Bhoi headmen concerned over COVID cases

NONGPOH: As holders of greater responsibility towards the Dorbars and the state as a whole, the headmen of different villages in Ri Bhoi, under the umbrella of Rangbah Shnong ka Ri Bhoi District, discussed the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 with Deputy Commissioner, RM Kurbah, at her office on Wednesday.
Expressing concern over the surge in COVID cases in the district as well as the state, the headmen suggested that screening of all those entering the state should be done at Byrnihat only. The leaders also said that truckers as well as others should not be (Contd on P-10)

With regard to the purported shifting of the COVID-19 screening centre from 13th Mile to Byrnihat and Umling, the village heads suggested the DC that screening for both heavy and light motor vehicles should be done at the same place.
Earlier, a memorandum in this regard was also sent to the DC by the village headmen.
