EJH cement plant declared containment zone

Khliehriat: Following the detection of a coronavirus case at Meghalaya Cement Limited complex in Chiehruphi/Thangskai village, the East Jaintia Hills (EJH) District Magistrate has declared the complex as a micro-containment area till August 13.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the index COVID-19 patient had violated the home quarantine protocols by coming in contact with persons from the cement plant.  Albeit the DC’s directive will bar entry-exit movements, exemption has been granted for the officials of the office of the East Jaintia Hills deputy commissioner including medical and health officers, district tracing team, medical officers and medical frontline workers on duty at the cement plant.
The police officials have also been exempted from the purview of the directive.
