SHILLONG: The Synjuk ki waheh (headmen) Hynru chnong (association of six villages) met Power Minister, James Sangma, to discuss about the power supply in the six villages.
Waheh of Kyndong Mynsaw, Danny Shadap, said that they have signed an MoU in Jowai this year for metre-reading.
Stating that the training was also complete, Shadap said the headmen were surprised when a casual worker from MeECL was appointed.
Stating that the MoU was not honoured, the waheh chnong said that they had signed the MoU so that the locals would be appointed to monitor the electricity bill for accurate metre-reading.
There are over 60 villages under SDO Shangpung.
With regard to Saubhagya scheme, the number of people who could get access to the scheme are very few, Shadap said, adding that there is also a proposal to install transformers.
Shadap said the state government should allow the villages to appoint locals for metre-reading.
Meanwhile, Sanky Lamare, waheh of Raliang, said that there are 9 households in Ummudon and 3 in Mawsynnah in Raliang village that are yet to receive power supply.
