TURA: Violation of the State Job Reservation Policy in the recruitment of candidates by the MeECL has once again been alleged with the New Tura Development Forum (NTDF) dashing off a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday.

In their complaint submitted through the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, the forum alleged that during the recent appointment of 128 individuals as metre readers and 20 others for various posts, recruitment has been done without following the norms i.e. without any notifications or recruitment tests and interviews being conducted.

The forum added that while appointment was given to a total of 148 individuals, there was not a single Garo candidate in the lists. “Some sources said that only the individuals who have given plots of land to the MeECL have been recruited. If it is so, we would like to know about the people from Garo Hills Region like Dadenggre, Ampati, Bajengdoba, etc. whose plots of land were reported to have been given to the Corporation as well. Are the rules not applicable for Garo Hills Region?” the forum questioned.

Pointing out that the recruitment was done in gross violation of the State Reservation Policy, the forum urged the Chief Minister to look into the matter and take necessary action to provide justice to all sections of the society.
