8 more die of COVID19 in Assam, 796 new cases reported

GUWAHATI: Eight more persons died of COVID-19 in Assam today taking the number of deaths in the state due to the virus infection to 169.

Informing this, Assam Health minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet identified the deceased as Dhaneshwar Sinha (78) of Karimganj; Biswajit Kar (53) of Cachar; Anita Biswas (47), Bipul Saikia (53), Bholanath Das (39), Sofiquddin Laskar (58) of Dibrugarh; Khogesori Devi (53) of Lakhimpur; Mangal C Ray (43) of Bongaigaon

Meanwhile, as many as 2796 COVID cases detected out of 61318 tests done in last 24 hours. The positivity rate is 4.55%.

Out of the new cases, Kamrup (Metro) reported 418 cases, Cachar reported 307 cases, Kamrup (R) reported 248 cases and Dibrugarh reported 207.
