DCs to take salute on I-Day

SHILLONG: In a departure from the past due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, deputy commissioners will take the salute in their respective districts on Independence Day instead of ministers.
In sub-divisions/administrative units etc, sub-divisional officers/EAC i/c/block development officers will take the salute, according to the Commissioner & Secretary to GAD.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will take the salute and unfurl the National Flag in Shillong.
Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has issued certain guidelines, protocols and precautionary steps for celebration of Independence Day.
