Limited fans allowed for MotoGPs
Rome: Fans will be allowed into MotoGP races for the first time this season, at the Misano circuit in Italy next month. The region of Emilia Romagna has given the circuit permission to open to a maximum of 10,000 fans a day for the doubleheader of the San Marino and Emilia Romagna MotoGP rounds. There will be strict measures in place to protect against the coronavirus, and fans will not be allowed to roam around. The circuit has a capacity of around 110,000 including more than 40,000 in the stands and welcomed approximately 160,000 people across the three-day weekend last year. Organizers say in a statement: “It is a decision that makes us emotional because it also represents a green light for the restart of world sport finally in front of the fans.” The first three MotoGP rounds were held without fans and no spectators will be allowed into the upcoming doubleheader in Austria. Archery camp to resume on Aug 25
New Delhi: The national archery camp for Olympic hopefuls will resume at the Army Sports Institute in Pune on August 25, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said on Thursday.The camp was called off midway in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 16 recurve archers — eight men and as many women, along with four coaches and two support staff will report for the camp on August 25 and undergo the mandatory 14-day period inside the ASI campus before starting their training sessions. “…in view of the ensuing 2021 Olympics, the Sports Authority of India has sanctioned the National Archery Camp from August 25, 2020 ,” the SAI said. No replays in 2020/21 FA Cup
London: There will be no replays during the 2020/21 season of the FA Cup, England’s Football Association said on Thursday while announcing the schedule of the tournament for next season.”In order to assist in easing pressure on the football schedule, there will be no replays for the 2020-21 season,” said the FA in its statement. The preliminary rounds will begin on September 1 after which the qualifications will begin on September 22.The first round of matches will be played on November 7. The final is scheduled for May 15, 2021. The semi-final of the Carabao Cup will also be one-legged affairs.The FA Cup final this season was played on August 1 at an empty Wembley stadium amid the coronavirus pandemic. Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring twice. (IANS)
