Pledge to stand against militancy

GUWAHATI: Officers and employees of the Assam Secretariat here on Sunday pledged to stand against all forms of militancy on the occasion of Sok Divas, observed to mourn the death of children and other people killed in a bomb blast while attending the Independence Day celebration held in Dhemaji in 2004.

Maninder Singh, additional chief secretary, administered the oath of Sok Divas among the officers and staff of Janata Bhawan.

“Through the oath, everyone pledged to stand firmly against all acts of terrorism and militant violence, while beholding the non-violent principles of the nation,” a statement issued here, said.

 

  1. Angamuthu, commissioner and secretary, general administration department, and Preetom Saikia, commissioner and secretary, elementary education along with other senior government officials were present on the occasion.

Sok Divas was also observed at the directorate of information and public relations, Assam where the director of the department, Anupam Choudhury administered the oath in the presence of officers and staff  of the directorate.
