TURA: In view of cases of African Swine Flu being reported from some parts of the state, the transportation of pigs both inter-state and inter-district as well as those from the areas bordering Assam and Bangladesh has been banned in West Garo Hills.

The order in this regard was issued under Section 144 CrPC by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh on Monday.

“It has been confirmed that cases of African Swine Fever has been reported from certain villages under West and East Khasi Hills including Ri-Bhoi District. In order to prevent the spread of the disease, the transportation of pigs from other states and districts including from the border areas is prohibited until further orders,” the order by the DC stated, while warning that any breach of the order would invite action under Section 188.
