SHILLONG: Subsequent to the state government giving its nod to gyms and centres for yoga and aerobics to reopen after the COVID-19-induced hiatus, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has allowed the same to function.
In a statement on Saturday, the DC said that the yoga institutes and gymnasiums can only function after due permission is received from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District.
The DC has also directed the yoga institutes and gymnasiums to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government.
“An undertaking confirming adherence to the relevant SOPs and SOPs issued by the Government of Meghalaya in the Health & Family Welfare Department is to be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, before resumption of operations,” the statement from the DC read.
The DC has also allowed cyber cafes and gaming parlours to function with strict compliance to the SOPs issued by government, after due permission has been received from the EKH DC office.
However, the gaming parlours have be allowed to open on a daily basis, from 8 am to 8 pm.
For shops
The EKH DC has directed shops operating from fixed premises in the district to function from 8 am to 8 pm.
However, the directive will not apply for areas falling under Police Bazaar, Khyndailad to Motphran, Keating Road, Jail Road, Motphran, Anjalee Point, Mawlonghat, Iew Mawlong, Cantonment, Jeep Stand, Garikhana and Paltan Bazaar.
“All standalone shops and all shops in shopping malls/complexes will open daily from 8 am to 8 pm,” the order read.
With regard to shops in shopping complexes in Glory’s Plaza, J M Towers, Deedar Market, Dmar Complex, DGC Cross Road Building, Hira Market, Gulesta Fancy Market, Jivan Ram Complex (Bhutia Market), Rapsang Market Complex (Mawlonghat), Municipal Parking Lot (Mawlonghat), Anjalee Parking Lot (29-Cantonment) and Khasi Market below Jaiaw Taxi Stand, the DC has said that shops with serial number 1, 3 and 5 will open on, August 17, 19, 21, 25, 27 and 29, while shops with serial number 2, 4 and 6 will open on August 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28.
“Operation of restaurants, cafes and food outlets excluding those that are located along National Highways shall be in strict compliance to the SOPs. However, operation of restaurants, cafés, food outlets and tea stalls along National Highways is strictly for home delivery and takeaway service only. Home delivery and )takeaway service is allowed till 10:00 pm,” the order said.
Identified weekly markets except Border Haats and markets located in the interstate border are permitted to open in the district by adhering to the SOPs issued by the government.
Night curfew
In a separate order, the DC has also extended the night curfew till August 24 August. The curfew restraints will be in effect between 9 pm to 5 am every day.
The 9 pm to 5 am relaxations, however, remain the same as per earlier orders.
Curfew passes for timings falling between 9 pm to 5 am can be obtained from www.eastkhasihills.gov.in.
Passes for all forms of all interstate movement to and from East Khasi Hills District will only be issued by the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District.
