TURA: The entire area of Chibinang market under Phulbari PHC in West Garo Hills was on Tuesday declared as a containment zone after five new cases of COVID-19 were detected during random antigen testing.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, while issuing an order in this regard, has prohibited the movement of people from and into the containment zone adding that detailed contact tracing will be carried out in the area by health workers.
“The area has been declared a containment zone to restrict unregulated entry and exit of people. Please follow COVID protocols,” the DC said.
Earlier, on Monday night, some areas which were declared as containment zones — Phulbari Bazar (Kali Mandir to Millanpur Road), Haribanga Village, Nimaikata Village, Shyamding Village (from Shyamding junction to PWD No. 3), Goladigli Village under Phulbari CHC and Belbari Bazar and Old Bhaitbari Bazar under Bhaitbari PHC — were de-notified by the DC after exhaustive contact tracing failed to find any more positive cases.
