SHILLONG: Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh has come up with a stern warning against the police, district administration and people stopping, harassing or checking vehicles transporting vegetables from one district to another or even outside the state.
He said that the vehicles are constantly being checked despite having a car pass and alleged that they are harassed, checked by the police department and district administration from time to time.
“I want this message to go to all district administration — do not disturb the vehicle transporting vegetables to sell anywhere in the state and outside the state. I do not want this to continue. We have already given pass from the department”, he said. The minister bluntly said that the Police department personnel would disturb the vehicles and will speak to the DGP about the matter. Again, he said that apart from the police, nobody is allowed to take the law into their hands.
