SHILLONG: The students of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) have slammed the Vice-Chancellor of the university, SK Srivastava, for announcing the final semester examinations, which is slated to start from the third week of September.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Rangdajied Marwein, a Law student, lamented that the announcement was made despite majority of the postgraduate final year students not having proper access to the internet.
“When most students cannot have access to internet, how can the VC and his Deans’ Committee take such a decision of unilaterally deciding about dates of examination amid the pandemic,” Marwein questioned.
He also said that it has become absolutely urgent to remove him from the position and initiate due process of selection of a new VC.
Marwein said that the student bodies of the state should ensure that such an unruly final semester examination is not conducted as many students will not be able to join the exam due to the ongoing pandemic.
