TURA: The Garo Graduates’ Union (GGU) along with the A’chik Literature Society (ALS) and senior citizens of Tura on Thursday condemned the de-recognition of the College of Teacher Education, Rongkhon, by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).
A meeting with regard to the issue was held on the same day wherein they unanimously expressed condemnation towards the move by the NCTE to withdraw its recognition of the only government institution for teacher education in the region.
“The College of Teacher Education at Rongkhon has been serving not only to Garo Hills but the entire state since 1997 and the move to de-recognise it is a shame. We strongly condemn it,” the GGU said, while informing that they would approach the state government on the matter of restoring recognition to the institution.
