SHILLONG: The North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU) has apprised Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui of its concerns about the decision of the University to hold final-year examinations starting third week of September, irrespective of different disciplines and courses.
The Union said that keeping in mind the current scenario of the state, specifically with regard to number of COVID-19 cases which are on the rise and with the state being on the verge of community transmission, the decision to hold the exams is impractical in nature and will surely have a consequential impact on the students.
The Union, however, said that if a decision has been reached to hold the final exams online, the government must ensure equal digital access to all the students by providing necessary smart gadgets and guarantee internet access/good connectivity and uninterrupted power supply for all students well before the commencement of exams.
