Heavy rains lash Kolkata
Kolkata: Heavy rains lashed Kolkata and the coastal districts of West Bengal on Thursday, inundating low-lying areas, officials said.
Several thoroughfares were waterlogged in different parts of Kolkata, including BT Road, Central Avenue, College Street, Amherst Street and EM Bypass, due to the showers that began on Wednesday, the weather office said. However, there were no traffic snarls as COVID-related restrictions were in place. (PTI)

Over 200 kgs of cannabis seized
Bengaluru: Three people from Mysuru have been arrested here for allegedly selling narcotics and 204 kgs of cannabis seized from a truck and a car, police said on Thursday. Samir Bari (37), Qaiser Pasha (41) and Ismail Sharif (38) were caught on Wednesday, police said. The three were involved in selling the drug in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. (PTI)

Bank fraud busted
Chandigarh: Punjab Police’s cyber crime cell on Thursday achieved success in busting a high-tech multi-crore bank fraud racket operating in the state with the arrest of a notorious key member of the gang – Amit Sharma.
ADGP-cum-Director of the Bureau of Investigation, Arpit Shukla, said the cyber crime cell investigated this case on the complaint of Vijay Kumar, Location Manager of HDFC Bank, who had complained of a fraud of around Rs 2 crore from a bank account. (IANS)
