SHILLONG: Members of the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA) and Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employees’ Association (GHDSTEA) apprised Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui of their grievances related to some of the associations’ long-pending demands.
Pointing out that their arrears — 75 per cent of the revised pay — is yet to be granted to them, the associations said that release of the second instalment was promised to be paid before December 2019, but they are yet to receive it.
The associations also said that the government is yet to implement the recommendations of the Fifth Pay Commission with regard to deficit school teachers, while informing the minister that the draft service rules of deficit teachers are yet to be adopted and urging him to implement them at the earliest.
