Factories get notice for violating pollution norms

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Environment informed that the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) has issued a notice to 15 illegal coke industries based in West Khasi hills district over violation of pollution norms.
The Chairman of the Committee, SK Sunn, said the district authorities should follow the directions issued by the Board and also to close the factories within 14 days.
Sunn also expressed concern over numerous coke factories being set up in such a short time and within a small locality.
