TURA: A married man hailing from Assam, who paraded himself as a bachelor and forced himself on a teenage girl, has been arrested by West Garo Hills Police almost one week after the incident happened.
The accused, Maidul Islam, who reportedly had two wives in both the states, allegedly lured a 16-year-old girl with prospect of marriage and committed rape on the night of August 22.
The victim, who lived with her grandparents, managed to muster up courage after a few days and divulged her ordeal, following which he was arrested before he could flee to the neighbouring state.
