Assembly Committee takes stock of environment scenario in Tura

TURA: The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Committee on Environment led by its Chairman and MLA, S K Sunn along with other members including MLAs Himalaya Shangpliang, Miani D Shira, Kimfa S Marbaniang, Rakkam Sangma and Co-opted member, Garland Star Swet on Tuesday visited various sites under Tura Municipal areas to take stock of the environment scenario in the town.

Among the places visited by the committee during the Site visit included the Dumping Ground at Rongkhon songgital, Tura Super market, Nakam Bazar and various streams of the town.

A day earlier, a meeting between the members and the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner along with Heads of various departments also took place at the Circuit House in Tura.

During the meeting, various issues concerning the town including the Environment Scenario of Tura Town and Bazar area, pollution of town’s streams, possible violation of building bye-laws by home owners, implementation of Ganol Small Hydro Project (Phase-1 and 2), disposal of Covid-19 wastes etc were discussed.
