Union calls for safety of Asha workers

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Asha Workers’ Union has sought protection from the state government for the safety of the Asha workers who are working in different villages of the state.
Sony Kharjana, advisor of the Meghalaya Asha Workers’ Union, claimed that the headman of Jirang village had recently terminated the services of an Asha worker just because she filed a complaint after her daughter was raped.
She also said miscreants even wrecked the house of the Asha worker just because she filed a complaint.
