Assam COVID update: 11 more deaths; toll mounts to 608

GUWAHATI: Eleven more persons succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Thursday taking the death toll in the state up to 608 while 2091 new COVID19 positive cases were detected during the day out of 28993 tests conducted. The positivity rate is recorded at7.21%.

Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet identified the deceased as Krishna Chakraborty (47) of Dibrugarh, Ramen Baruah (74) of Dibrugarh, Toibullah Ansari (85) of Lakhimpur, Biseswar Roy Choudhury (68) of Morigaon, Ratan Deka (59) of Kamrup Rural, Mohipal Kalita (60) of Kamrup Metro, Inamul Hoque (80) of Kamrup Metro, Lakhi Kalita (70) of Kamrup Rural, Biren Duwarah (74) of Golaghat, Swapan Deka (50) of Karimganj, Purna Deka (38) of Udalguri.

Out of the newly-detected cases 452 are in Kamrup Metro, 191 in Jorhat, 136 in Dibrugarh and 127 in Golaghat.

Total number of COVID19 cases detected in the state so far are165582 out of which 132709 persons have recovered. The number of active cases in the state as on date are 32262.
