SHILLONG: The state BJP on Friday celebrated the 104th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and organised a webinar to highlight the life and mission of Deendayal and his role in laying the founding principles of the party.
State BJP president, Ernest Mawrie, spoke at length about the contribution of the departed BJP leader in laying the foundation of nationalism in country. He also spoke about the idea of ‘Antyodya’, which means ‘welfare of the poor’, and its roots to the BJP’s policies.
The BJP Mahila Morcha, to mark the occasion, also organised a programme and distributed ration to the children at Hindu Mission, Mawprem, and Anand Bhawan (Missionaries of Charity), Nongrimbah. The state BJP also distributed ration to the needy at the State Party Office.
Earlier, party karyakartas across the state honoured the leader by hoisting the party flag at their respective homes.
