EPFO hands over pension papers to retiring staff
SHILLONG: As part of the ‘PRAYAAS’ initiative, the EPFO Regional Office, Shillong, has handed over pension papers for various retiring employees of BSNL, MTC, Quinee School, Nongthymmai Nepali Higher Second School on Monday and Tuesday, a statement said. Pension papers were handed over to the widow of deceased staff of BSNL on Monday and widow of deceased employees of WITC on Tuesday. The monthly pension paid to a widow of BSNL staff is Rs 2,901 while children pension is Rs 275 each, and arrear of widow pension is Rs 15,182 and arrear of children pension is Rs 3,794 each, the statement said. With regard to MTC employee, widow pension is Rs 2,051, children pension is Rs 513 each, while widow pension arrear is Rs 1,82,949 and children pension arrear is Rs 40,134 and arrear is Rs 45760. “The Office is trying its best to hand over pension papers of those employees who are going to superannuate in next three months on the date of superannuation i.e., attaining 58 years of age,” the statement added.

Union wants road renovated
MAWKYRWAT: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Photjaud Rangthong Unit, on Tuesday met the Executive Engineer, PWD, Mawkyrwat Division, urging the latter to immediately repair the Mawkyrwat-Mawmerang-Rangthong road. It may be mentioned that the Mawkyrwat-Mawmerang-Rangthong road, which happens to be in a deplorable state, causes a lot of problems to the commuters. According to the KSU, the road is filled with potholes and blacktopping has been damaged. The Union said that in many parts of the road, especially in the area near Mawmerang village, the canals are filled with sand, mud and stones. Meanwhile, according to the Union, the executive engineer has assured of writing to concerned authorities with regard to the renovation of the road.
