NONGPOH: Umroi MLA George B Lyngdoh inaugurated the additional classroom of Umroi Government LP School on Wednesday.
The classroom was built against a sanctioned amount of Rs 9.45 lakh, funded under Article 225(1) of 2018-19.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA lauded the initiatives taken to set up the schools while stating that there are many schools in rural areas which have been neglected and lack facilities, one of which was Umroi Government LP School.
“Since it is one of the oldest schools in the district, therefore, it is the need of the hour to renovate, upgrade and afford all the requirements the school needs,” Lyngdoh said, while appreciating the government for granting the sanction.
The MLA stressed that the schoolchildren need to be well equipped with quality education so that they can compete with the rest of the world and exhorted upon teachers to devote themselves to teachings.       On the day, the MLA also highlighted various ongoing and proposed projects in the area such as water supply, playground, sub-centre, renovation of school building etc and sought the people’s support.
