Police recover nearly 4 kg of Yaba tablets

NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi Police in a special operation on Tuesday intercepted an Agartala-bound truck (NL 01 AC 9346) at Dwar Ksuid, Umroi Bypass in Ri Bhoi and recovered close to 4 kg of Yaba tablets, a psychotropic drug.
During the operation, conducted by a police team from Khapmara PIC circa 11.30 pm, the police personnel conducted a check of the truck over suspicions and found the drugs inside the carrier compartment above the driver’s cabin.
The seizure is estimated to be worth around Rs 70-80 lakh in the market.
Bikram Dutta, driver, and his helper Bikash Sarkar, both hailing from Tripura, were arrested and a case has been registered.
