20-25K houses provided water connection under JJM, says Tongkhar

SHILLONG: PHE Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar has said that 20,000-25,000 households out of five lakh households have been provided water connection as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Speaking to reporters, he said there is a hope that the goal under the JJM will be achieved within the target time of March 2022, adding that a goal has been set to provide two lakh households with potable water connection by March 2021.
He said the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC) has been empowered to identify a contractor so that people can have a sense of ownership.
The state government has received a sanction of Rs 52 crore for the implementation of the JJM.
The execution of the scheme in Mawkyrwat is 17 per cent.
