Banteidor inspects oil extracting machine

SHILLONG: Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh inspected a machine for extraction of oil from Lakadong turmeric, which was installed in 2013 at Laskein block, West Jaintia Hills, but is no longer functional.
With regard to the non-functional machine, Lyngdoh requested the people to give him time to ferret out the details about its installation and the reason behind the machine becoming inoperative.
He also inspected a project called Rural Bio-Resource Complex for North-Eastern India, funded by North Eastern Hills University, Shillong, and Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Turmeric and Ginger Value Addition Complex, and supervised by Laskeiñ Federation of SHGs, Jaintia Hills.
Lakadong turmeric is a special variety of turmeric found in Lakadong, Jaintia Hills, and is famous for its medicinal qualities.
