SHILLONG: If all goes well, the Unit I of the Stage-I Myntdu Leshka Hydro Electric Project (MLHEP), which was in repair for a long time, will see the light of day by October 16.
Elaborating on this, the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) CMD, Arunkumar Kembhavi, on Thursday said that the repair work is almost done and the Corporation is optimistic that the unit would be commissioned by October 16.
The machine has been non-functional, reportedly since July this year.
Kembhavi also informed that the repair of Stage-IV of the Umiam Hydro Power Project can be completed only by March next year since it requires major repair work.
Earlier, Congress had pointed out the failure of the MeECL to restore two machines of the Umiam hydroelectric power plant for the past one year which led to the loss of crores of rupees.
