2 KSU men bailed in Lawsohtun assault case

SHILLONG: Two Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) members were released on bail on Friday after they were arrested in connection with the Lawsohtun Block- VI alleged assault case.
President of the union, Lambok Marngar, said that the two — Johnson Nongkhlaw and Augustine Lyngdoh Nongpyuir — were jailed for three months.
“As an organisation, we have come across many ups and downs but these will inspire the organisation to work hard and protect the rights of the indigenous,” he said.
The incident happened recently when a group of nine youths hailing from Laban and adjoining areas, who went to play basketball at Block VI in Lawsohtun, were allegedly assaulted by masked group of men resulting in injuries of six youths.
