Hek takes up state, party issues with BJP central leader

SHILLONG: Lone BJP minister AL Hek on Friday met party general secretary (organisation) B Santosh in New Delhi to discuss issues pertaining to strengthening of the party organisation in the state and preparations for the 2023 assembly elections.
Discussions were also held on PM CARES Fund even as Hek raised the issue of recognition of frontline health workers including ASHAs, traditional institutions and Anganwadi workers who have toiled day and night to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the state. Appointment of a vice-chancellor at NEHU and the offer of peace talks by the HNLC also came up for discussion.
The party general secretary asserted that he would raise the issues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
