CPC pays tribute to its founder President

SHILLONG: The Central Puja Committee paid handsome tributes to its founder president Dr Subrata Das at a condolence meeting held here at Bangiya Sahitya Parishad Hall on Sunday. Dr Das, who died at Guwahati on October 15, served CPC as it’s advisor until his death.
Floral tributes were paid to the departed soul and a host of speakers representing various public institutions recalled his manifold qualities.
Former VC of Assam University Dr J B Bhattacharjee placed on record Dr Das’ active role in socio-politics of Meghalaya and recalled that he was the secretary of erstwhile APHLC (English wing) under the leadership of BB Lyngdoh.
Former Director of Higher and Technical Education Dr SK Chattopadhaya noted that he was knowledgeable about the constitution, especially the sixth schedule.
Former Minister Manas Chaudhuri said as an ophthalmologist he served Shillong Civil Hospital pro bono in the 70’s. He was associated with at least four educational institutions and served them well.
Others who spoke included Dr MM Singh, Advocate BK Das, Bipul Sen, JL Das, P Chokhani, RS Singh and, J Dutta, S Chakraborty. President CPC presided over the meeting.
