SHILLONG: The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) has appealed to the Hindu community from the state to come out with the truth on whether they have been harassed or not.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, NPYF Shillong city president, Mayborn Rapthap, said the youth wing of the NPP is concerned about the presentation made by the trio — Prantush Sarkar, Mridul Das and Binayak Roy — to state governor, Satya Pal Malik.
Rapthap claimed that the allegations of harassment levelled are politically motivated and bring about communal tension in the state.
Stating that Hindus have celebrated Durga Puja all these years peacefully, Rapthap said the allegations levelled by the trio have ignited a communal fire.
Exhorting the government machinery to take action against the three, the NPYF has also condemned the remarks of the erstwhile governor, Tathagata Roy.
UDP concerned
Meanwhile, the UDP has expressed concern over the tweets by the former governor on the recent issue.
In a statement here, general secretary of UDP, Jemino Mawthoh, said the party condemned vested interests who were out to create communal tensions and disturb the peace and harmony in state.
The party has also urged the state government to take action against the persons who instigated the tension.
