Body formed in state to revive old pension scheme

SHILLONG: The National Old Pension Restoration United Front — a national association formed to work for the one demand of restoring old pension — has set foot in Meghalaya to work in coordination with all associations, employees, officers and teachers in the state for ethical demand of old pension scheme and to work perpetually for old pension.
In a statement issued here, the organisation said that since 2003, the Centre has stopped old pension scheme for employees and applied the national pension scheme.
With the passage of time, all employees have realised that the new pension scheme is completely against the welfare of employees as it totally depends on share market and said that many employees who have retired under the NPS are withdrawing nominal pension after retirement which is insufficient for a decent living.
