SHILLONG [Nov 10]: MDC from Sohra Constituency, Titos Chyne, along with Shella legislator Balajied Synrem met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday and pursued the demand to upgrade Sohra Sub-Division to a district.
Chyne, who is also the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), said the talks were fruitful, with the chief minister informing that the government was still in the waiting process as there were certain hurdles being faced. “However, the talks with the chief minister were positive,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the demand for South Khasi Hills district was raised since the tenure of Donkupar Roy, who was the former MLA from Shella and Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker.
