Labourers, workers sensitised in city

SHILLONG, Nov 11: The Meghalaya Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) today conducted a programme to sensitise on ‘Legal Services to Workers of the Unorganised Sector’ at the Meghalaya Training Institute, Shillong.
“The programme, which was attended by contractors and labourers, aimed at reaching out to workers in the unorganised by making available the benefits of various government schemes and to provide the protection of law,” a statement on Wednesday said.
District and Sessions Judge, NA Khan, during the programme, highlighted on the need to educate contractors and labourers about the benefits under labour laws. He also encouraged the participants to articulate their challenges so that the issues can be taken up with the government.
