Entrepreneurship workshop in Tura

TURA, Nov16: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh on Monday inaugurated the two-day entrepreneurship workshop on Agriculture and Value Chain with the theme ‘Don’t Wait for Opportunity, Create it’, at Tura Government College on Monday. The programme was organised by Tura Government College Students Union in collaboration with Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) and Prime-Hub, Tura supported by District Administration of West Garo Hills. Speaking on the occasion, the DC informed that there are plenty of online platforms available now and people are not purchasing things physically but online. He said it shows the power of online markets and an entrepreneur can easily avail other options rather than merely opening a shop.

Natl Ayurveda Day observed
Nongpoh, Nov 16:  Together with the rest of the country, the 5th National Ayurveda Day was observed at Integrated Ayush Hospital Bhoirymbong, Ri Bhoi district under the theme ‘Ayurveda for Health’ on Monday. The programme was organised by the office of the Director of Ayush Meghalaya, Shillong, where Health minister AL Hek graced the occasion as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Hek applauded all doctors and staff of the health department for their diligent services to the people.  He also expressed gratitude to all the ASHAs for their untiring efforts and dedication rendered to the people particularly to pregnant women and children. Hek encouraged the practice of local and traditional healers to integrate with the AYUSH programme which will help to revive and promote the ancient and traditional methods of healing.

NTCP held 
TURA, Nov 16: The first District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) of the National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) under national health mission was held at Williamnagar on Monday at the office chamber of the deputy commissioner.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe, highlighted the initiatives taken by the district administration towards the issue of tobacco control in the district.
The State Nodal Officer of the NTCP, Dr. Lana EL Nongbri, deliberated at length on the genesis, objectives and focus of the NTCP in India in general and Meghalaya in particular. She also highlighted the provisions under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003.
The meeting was attended by stakeholders and the heads of other line departments.
