One-time settlement scheme launched

NONGPOH, Nov 17:  The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) has launched its One Time Settlement Scheme, 2020, for all categories of defaulting consumers including government departments having outstanding dues of electricity bills as on March 31.
Informing this, the Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, in a statement, said that the Scheme offers waiver of 100 per cent of delay payment charges or 30 per cent of total outstanding dues, whichever is more beneficial to the consumer.
“It is expected that with the implementation of the Scheme, the defaulting consumers, including consumers who have not received bills for a long time, will be able to settle their outstanding dues, which will improve the liquidity of the corporation for ensuring the supply of uninterrupted power in the coming days. However, this Scheme is not applicable for any surcharge/penalty accumulated against bills raised for any theft, meter tampering or any other malpractices,” the statement said, adding that the Scheme will be valid till January 31.
