The Joint Secretary of General Administration (A) department has informed that all state government offices as well as revenue and magisterial courts and education institutes in East Khasi Hills will remain closed on November 25 on account of Nongkrem Dance.
The Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills, C Kharkongor, on Friday declared November 30 (Monday) as a local holiday on account of ‘U Sngap Sing Syiem Day’.
PDS quota
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply) of East Khasi Hills has informed that rice under NFSA (AAY and PHH) and Non-NFSA and chana whole under PMGKAY for November has been released through the respective fair price shops. The scale of issue is 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg for AAY quota, 5 kg per head at Rs 3 per kg for PHH and 7.215 kg per household at Rs 12.70 to Rs 13 per kg for non-NFSA beneficiaries. Rice under PMGKAY will be issued free of cost at 5 kg per head for AAY and PHH beneficiaries. Pulses (chana whole) will also be issued free of cost at 1 kg per card. Wholemeal atta for October at the scale of 5 kg per card in urban areas and 3 kg per card in rural area at Rs 10.50 per kg will also be issued.
Photo exhibition
As part of the commemoration of Constitution Day and paying tributes to the contribution of its founding fathers, the High Court of Meghalaya will hold a photo exhibition in its conference hall from 10:30 am to 1 pm on November 26.
Wages revised
The Meghalaya Government has revised the minimum wages payable to the employees with effect from October 1, 2020 wherein the minimum wage in addition to revised VDA for highly skilled labourers is Rs 420 + 60 (Rs 480); Rs 380 + 55 (Rs 435) for skilled labourers; Rs 340 + 49 (Rs 389) for semi skilled labourers; and for unskilled labourers the wage is Rs 300 + 43 (Rs 343).
Unclaimed body
The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Civil Hospital, Shillong, has informed that a male patient viz., Vicky (30), was admitted in the Male Surgical Ward, Bed No. 6 of the hospital on November 6 noon. However, the patient passed away on November 6. All concerned relatives have been requested to collect his body from the morgue of the hospital within three days failing which it will be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
