Competition
RK Accessories, a city-based two-wheeler accessories store, recently organised a safety giveaway online competition in a bid to promote road safety and compliance with the new traffic rules. To raise awareness on the importance of wearing a helmet, owner of the store, R Khryiem, said the best way to grab the attention of the contemporary youths is through social media. “With the latest trend of organising giveaways, I figured the best way to get people’s attention, especially the young people, through a safety giveaway,” he said. The competition was participated by over 222 entries and a winner was chosen on November 30.

Book release
A book entitled Srijan (creativity) comprising a bunch of Bengali poems authored by Sandhya Paul was released here on Thursday. The 271 pp book also carries English translation. The book was released by erstwhile Editor of The Shillong Times, Manas Chaudhuri, in presence of Prof Ayan Bhattacharjee of NIT Shillong.
