RKM starts telemedicine service

SHILLONG, Dec 5: The Shillong and Sohra centres of Ramakrishna Mission (RKM), in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS, have started a telemedicine centre to dispense medical facilities.
According to a statement, senior general manager of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, AK Borthakur, on Saturday, inaugurated the telemedicine consultancy centre at RKM Charitable Dispensary, Laitumkhrah. “This is the first telemedicine clinic managed by an NGO in Meghalaya. This novel project has been provided by Power Grid Corporation under its CSR scheme. Established in 1952, the RKM Charitable Dispensary serves around 1.2 lakh patients in urban and rural areas of Meghalaya annually,” the statement said.
It said that medical facilities in specialised domains like neurology, oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology, gynaecology, cardiology, dental, pediatrics, ENT, urology and psychiatry will be provided. “More services will be added in future,” the statement added.
