Nongpoh, Dec 9: Days after the assault of HNYF-NR president, Marcus Marten, by HYC members in Nongpoh came to the light, the former on Wednesday clarified that he and the auto owners and drivers are not averse to the implementation of ILP in state.
A scuffle recently broke out between Marten and HYC members after the former asked the latter to remove the flags, which was put up as a mark of protest, from the auto rickshaws. It was after that Marten had sustained injuries.
Marten clarified that he had asked to remove the black flags from the auto rickshaws as he was au courant with what was going on, adding that he and the other office-bearers of the NRAO&DA were not intimated about the agitation slated for that day.
Urging the pressure groups to apprise the NRAO&DA of such protests beforehand, he said he did not want to escalate the matter further as the demand for implementation of ILP in the state is the aspiration of the people.
Meanwhile, auto drivers and owners of Nongpoh under the banner of Nongpoh Region Auto Owners and Drivers Association (NRAO&DA) on Wednesday took to the streets condemning the assault.
