The chief minister, who tested positive on December 11, is currently undergoing self isolation.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary, MS Rao today said that no minister or officer, who had come in contact with the chief minister, have tested positive. He revealed that based on the assessment of the people who had come in contact with the chief minister several have quarantined themselves while others have isolated themselves.
Rao expressed surprise that the chief minister, in spite of being cautious on COVID, had tested positive.
“It is a bit of bad luck,” the chief secretary added.
Collective decision
to ban street carol
Health Minister, AL Hek today defended the move of the state government to not allow carolling in the state during the festive season.
Hek told journalists today that the government took the decision after due deliberations with leaders of different denominations and church leaders and it was a collective decision.
The Health minister also lauded the people of the state for maintaining discipline and adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.
Appeal to allow carolling
On the other hand, the Meghalaya United Christian Forum has appealed the authorities to allow the activity in compliance with the protocols.
It may be mentioned that carols within churches have not been barred.
