All eyes on Malik-Shah talks

SHILLONG, Dec 19: Amid the amplification of demand for Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya, Governor Satya Pal Malik has left for New Delhi and is expected to meet and hold talks with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the Meghalaya Residents’ Safety and Security (Amendment) Act (MRSSA), 2019, besides other issues concerning the state. It was informed that although the appointment for meeting Shah has not been fixed, the meeting is inevitable. The governor is of the opinion that MRSSA must be implemented in state. Malik had also said that he will take the opinion of the Ministry of Home Affairs and will try to convince Shah for MRSSA’s implementation in state.
However, with regard to the implementation of ILP in Meghalaya, Malik has said the issue is not on his table.
Besides, MRSSA, the governor will be conferring about development as well as the law and order situation in the state.
