SHILLONG, Jan 8: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) has expressed its solidarity with the Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF), which observed a black day on Friday, as protest against the brutal attack by security personnel on its members at Dasaram Para under Jirania Sub-Division of West district, around 20km from Agartala, on January 8, 2019, while they were agitating against the citizenship law.
In a statement issued here, NESO said that the security personnel involved in the incident should have been punished, but till date, no action has been taken against them.
The indigenous communities of Tripura are not only marginalised but also oppressed and suppressed by the Tripura government, claimed NESO. “In this backdrop, NESO demands that the police personnel involved in the unwarranted firing upon the indigenous people of Tripura should be punished and action taken against them”, it said.
