SHILLONG, Jan 9: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) Meghalaya in-charge, Manish Chatrath, will make his two-day maiden visit to Shillong on Monday.
Informing this, sources from the Congress said that Chatrath, during his Shillong visit, will hold discussions with party MLAs and MDCs and different party wings.
Chatrath’s maiden visit to Shillong comes months after he succeeded Luizinho Faleiro as the AICC Meghalaya in-charge.
It was also informed that Chatrath wants to take the views of the party MLAs and leaders on appointing a new party president in Meghalaya.
It may be mentioned that things are heating up within the Congress camp for the post of party president in Meghalaya as two senior MLAs, Charles Pyngrope and Ampareen Lyngdoh, have expressed their desire to become the new president.
The term of the incumbent party president, Dr Celestine Lyngdoh, had expired last December.
