SHILLONG, Jan 17: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MLA, Adelbert Nongrum, has asked the BJP to fulfil its promises and resolve the long-pending issues including the Inner Line Permit (ILP) following which he will decide on joining the saffron party.
“There is the issue of ILP; if Manipur can get it, why not Meghalaya? The BJP should fulfill the demands and aspirations of the people,” he asserted.
He observed that the BJP as well as the MDA is eyeing the 2024 general elections. “We are still demanding ILP. Fulfilling the issues is more important”, he said, adding that there is a need to protect the state.
On other issues, Adelbert spoke about the reservation policy, and doing away with the Assam and Meghalaya cadre.
Fulfillment of the long-pending issues by the government is worth more than winning elections, the MLA claimed.
