Call to expedite SWKH project works

MAWKYRWAT, Jan 20: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Warsan Lyngdoh Circle, on Wednesday met the Executive Engineer PWD (Roads), Mawkyrwat, and accentuated on the need to expedite the construction of a bridge over the Tihiang River and the PMGSY roads in Warsan Lyngdoh area, South West Khasi Hills.
KSU president, South West Khasi Hills, Forwardman Nongrem, informed that the Union had exhorted the executive engineer to speed up the construction and complete it before the monsoon.
It may be mentioned that on September 2020, a vehicle carrying 8 persons was washed away by the Tihiang River when it was trying to cross over to the other side. While two of them managed to swim to safety, six others had drowned.
“The engineer has promised that he will take up both the projects seriously for the benefit of the people of Warsan Lyngdoh area,” Nongrem said.
Nongrem also informed that the Union had also met the Assistant Executive Engineer of the MePDCL Mawkyrwat and demanded that the office should immediately look into the electricity bills which have created lot of problems to the people of the area.
