MAWKYRWAT, Jan 27: If all goes as planned by the state government, the much-delayed 100-bed hospital at Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills, may see the light of day sooner than people’s expectations.
Cabinet Minister AL Hek has assured its speedy implementation stating that it is one of the projects whose completion will be celebrated by the Meghalaya government when the state turns 50 next year.
Hek was speaking during the inspection of the 100-bed hospital on Tuesday. He was accompanied by South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Cara Kharkongor, District Medical & Health Officer, Dr FR Lartang, Superintendent of Police, Maxwell B Syiem, Block Development Officer, FB Basan and others.
Speaking to media persons, the Health minister informed that the inspection was carried out because the state government is now preparing to celebrate the golden jubilee of Meghalaya’s statehood. “One of the projects that will be celebrated as part of the golden jubilee celebrations is the 100 -bed hospital here in Mawkyrwat,” he added.
Hek has urged upon the concerned parties to look into the progress of the project. ”No one should interfere into the work here, and if there is such a situation, the deputy commissioner and Superintendent of Police should thwart them,” Hek said.
Asked about the timeframe set by the government to inaugurate the hospital, Hek said, “We will celebrate the golden jubilee and we will inaugurate the hospital”.
